The Top 5 of 2010

The end of the year is upon us. Most review podcasts countdown their top ten events for the year. Who are we to disappoint? We’re too lazy for a top ten. So listen as the Magnificos share the top five memorable moments of 2010.

  1. Grady is a moron. I know that goes without saying, but as a self proclaimed Whovian, to have Grady say “Doctor Who’s been asleep all 2010”.. is kind of insulting. No, nothing really happened except that we had a NEW Doctor (Matt Smith), a new head writer (Steven Moffat) and a whole season of 13 episodes. It’s okay, I could see how he could miss that in favor of a bunch of end of year things that he probably just cobbled off five minutes prior to the show. His Doctor Who fan card has been revoked.

  2. Erich you’re right. Whovians probably should revoke my fan card for forgetting that 2010 was indeed a big year for Doctor Who. Though calling me a moron is a bit harsh. (Whatever happened to respecting your elders? I’m a senior citizen-geek for Rassilon’s sake!) As a Doctor Who fan, one is to expect that the tone and experience of the series change with every new Doctor incarnation. Though Moffat’s Eleventh Doctor is slowly growing on me, I was not impressed initially with the latest season. Most of what I solidly like with the Eleventh are actually carryovers from the Tenth’s gallery (River Song, Moffat’s Weeping Angels, etc.). That said, my subconscious most likely left it out of the top five by accident, as I’ve never had an opportunity to openly and verbally share my love for the Doctor Who mythos. Or most likely, as Juan would say, I was not properly prepared for the episode. Regardless, thanks for chiming in and calling me on it.

  4. just thought i’d throw this out there, Will Travers from Rubicon is my cousin, James Badge Dale. yes i’m bragging or name dropping or whatever, but he is. and he’s a really nice guy.

  5. Rubicon was easily one of the best shows on TV in my book. It’s a shame that it was canceled. James Badge Dale was fantastic on the show. Sometimes I cheered for Travers, other times I wished I could knock some sense into him… a testament to how Dale played the character. I’m one of many fans I’m sure and wish your cousin the best of success. Hope he can get my message someday somehow. Thanks. – Grady
