I have not been reading the GL books to this point, and I picked this one up. Other than big event names and concepts, rumors, and occasional overheard scuttlebutt, I have no idea what's been going on in the GL universe. And I was able to follow this title just fine. I felt that enough information was given in the dialogue to new readers, and with the movie just out, they were able to use a bit of shorthand, not explaining every detail like was done in Hawk and Dove or in Stormwatch.

Now how much of this is a reboot? Well, every series going right now is starting in media res (with the arguable exceptions of Action Comics and Justice League). It's not that any series is starting at the beginning of a character's story, but rather that they're starting at the beginning of A story and are filling you in on background as they go.

That being said, it's entirely possible that we might find background to Hal Jordan and/or the GL Corps to be different than we knew, in subtle ways. Detective Comics had some rather startling changes in Batman's continuity, even though the basics are still in place.

I would give it one more point on your five-point scale. The story didn't feel lacking to me; it was competent but just didn't blow me away. I'm mildly intrigued at the events but mostly curious where the ending is going to go for next month's issue.
