According to The Wrap exclusive, Warner Bros. is shutting down its direct-to-video label, Warner Premiere. The main reason: the decline in the direct-to-video market.

“Given the continuing decline in the direct-to-video film market and shifting business models in the production of digital series, the decision was made to close Warner Premiere,” the studio said in a statement to TheWrap. The division will continue and complete production on its remaining film and digital series project into the Fall.”

Their 15th animated feature, set for release on September 25th, is The Dark Knight Returns:
Part 1. The Frank Miller graphic novel was broken into two parts, but a release date for Part 2
was never given.

And what about the Flashpoint adaption that Kevin Conroy let slip back in April?

Well, Deadline reports that projects will be transitioned.

“The evaluation of potential digital content will be folded into Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, and Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video will continue to produce and release animated films, such as Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry and DC Universe.”

So there you go, the DC Universe Animated Original Movies are safe.
